2010: The Journey Continues

Stranmillis University College Belfast was the setting for the RSCni's Annual Conference on Tuesday 23rd March.  The Conference's objective was to show how colleges were progressing on their journey to embedded status.

RSCni staff were delighted to have examples of good practice in technology enhanced learning from every institution they support - not just the FE Colleges but also the 2 Higher Educations Institutions - St Mary's University College and Stranmillis University College (Full Programme Available) . In addition other examples of good practice in technology enhanced learning were demonstrated with contributions from JISC TechDis and David Payne, from Middlesborough College.  David was Highly Commended in the ALT Learning Technologist of the Year Award 2009 for his outstanding and innovative use of video to enhance motor-vehicle studies students' confidence and performance.

Some of the inspiring sessions included Grainne McCauley's from NWRC.  She spoke on how she used wikis innovatively in her teaching.

NRC's Ruth Hutchinson spoke on the use of e-books in the college.

The afternoon Key Note was delivered by Gerry Devlin, Assistant Director SRC, who spoke of the college's use of IDLE computing which is being used as an aid in resource allocation.

Kate Guy, Manager RSCni also spoke of an RSCni ILT Health Check Summary report which was given to delegates.  Two lucky delegates also won IPods.
