Core to this years technical support programme is security. To maintain reliable systems and ensure information integrety colleges must ensure that they have developed a security plan, and range of policies that must be applied.
Some time ago the RSCni launched the UCISA/UKERNA information security toolkit. This toolkit should be a valuable resource in formation of a security plan. The RSCni can meet with colleges to dicuss the toolkit and information security policies, and provide support should colleges wish to pursue security policy development.

Information Security Toolkit Second Edition Now Available
| The UCISA Information Security Toolkit is intended to support UK Higher and Further Education Institutions in producing Information Security policies to address (and to demonstrate that they are addressing) threats to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information systems for which they are responsible, and to help meet audit requirements. The sections draw heavily on British Standard BS 7799, not least by adopting its structure for control objectives and controls. Request a hard copy form your RSC or download a PDF version of the Toolkit from the UCISA website. |
